During this semester we also did some work on the wiki for the first brief. This was to get us started and we all got key words to do with the I-Reflect paper and talked about what they meant and were used for...
I made 3 posts on the wiki, talking about different definitions used within e-portfolio's which were personalized, expertise and facilitate.
I also talked about referencing and why you need to reference your sources. I also put a hyperlink to a website that tells you how to reference video clips like you tube ones.
The last post I did on the wiki was about different e-portfolio's you can have. The three main ones are assessement portfolio's (which is what we are doing because ours are being assesed from our lecturer's), showcase portfolio's (where are also kind of doing this sort of portfolio also because we are showcasing our work we have done to the readers and our lecturers). The last type of port-folio is a reflective portfolio, (we have also done reflective elements in our portfolio's where we have to talk about why we chose this topic, how will it benefit us later in life and just in general stuff about the creator of the e-portfolio).

I have also tried to make more of an online presence with my blogging because that was one of my downfalls with my formative feedback. So I wrote some more on the wiki, I wrote comments on other people's e-portfolio's telling them about their views that I saw and the things I liked about them. I also have written many comments on the I-Reflect main website which is: http://ireflect08.blogspot.com/
I wrote comments on this website informing our lecturers and peers about the things I was doing, like I put a post up when I created this blog, so they could have a look at the things I was doing, I also put up posts when I was having trouble adding a view access. I think my presence has become stronger now and I hope that I have a more online access and my grade for that area will go up!!!
Referencing:
I have tried to reference where neccessary in my e-portfolio. Because I wrote all the fan-fictions myself I didnt used any references for that. I have added a view though in my e-portfolio to show the references for the you-tube videos I had used in my views and I added all the websites where I got photos for my views from also. Most of the information used was my own knowledge of the shows so referencing for my portfolio was not really a big thing to worry about....
I hope you guys have enjoyed my portfolio on my fan-fictions, I really enjoyed creating it and being able to play around with all the different things and also learn a lot about using different websites like Mahara and this one also...
I hope you have also enjoyed reading my reflective side of the e-portfolio, learning more about me and my passion for writing!!
Place any comments if you want to also!
Thanks, Ashleigh Lack....

My e-portfolio and Mahara...
When we were first introduced to the I-Reflect paper, we were told that we were to create our e-portfolio's on the website Mahara.
Mahara URL: http://myportfolio.ac.nz/
When I first looked at Mahara it seemed quite easy but I did face many challanges in creating my own e-portfolio...
Although, I had never created an e-portfolio before it seemed to be easy enough and our lectures were very happy to show us anything we needed to know, also the same with our peers of the I-Reflect class..
I decided straight away that I wanted to do my e-portfolio on my Fan-Fictions and put a proposal up straight away onto the Mahara website informing everyone about what my plans were for my e-portfolio and the sort of things I wanted to create.
I became very interested in my e-portfolio and spent many hours in class exploring all the different tools, and how to upload photos, videos etc....
Not long after I put my Proposal up, I added my first fanfictions for both Home and Away and Outrageous Fortunes. But I soon noticed that Mahara was quite a difficult website to use and I was having problems uploading documents and making them fit on the page so it looked neat and tidy. I am quite fussy with that sort of things so I spent a lot of time trying to get my work to look the way I wanted on the views. Another problem I was having was making my view accesible to the other I-Reflect students and our tutors. A few times I was told that an error had occured and I had to re-try many times to make the view accesible but I did get there in the end after a lot of patience haha...
I then had a bit of break with my e-portfolio because I was stressed with other work and I forgot about it. But after 2 weeks I got back into it and wrote another three scenes for both Outrageous Fortunes and Home and Away.
After I had wrote the scenes I then played around with each of the views, in making them look they way I wanted them and I also uploaded many videos and pictures of the characters of the show so that my readers could get a feel for the characters and see who they were reading about without getting too confused...
I learned on the Mahara website that the easiest things to do was to create everything I wrote in my blog, and then create a view and upload it through there, that way everything came out neat and tidy and I was happy with the layout.
With uploading pictures I also uploaded all of my pictures I wanted to use in a folder so that when I needed to put them on a view I could locate them very easy without fussing around too much....
The first feedback I got from Paul and Patsy was ok, they said I was on track and things were going well as long as I kept on with the tasks.
But my second feedback wasn't as great as the first one, there were a few things I needed to do like communication more with the I-Reflect group as I was having more of an offline presence!
I also hepled out one of my peers when she was having a tough time in the layout of her e-portfolio. I explained to her how I did mine and that it worked quite well for me in being able to control where my posting and pictures etc were put on the page in my views. She then took my advice and changed her views so that all of her posts were first put into blogs and then she copied them into the view, so I was happy that I was able to help her fix the problems she had.
I have added a few hyperlinks into my e-portfolio like the Home and Away official website and the Outrageous Fortunes official website so my readers could go there and find out more information on the shows to get a better undertstanding of them. I also made the hyperlink on my e-portfolio to this website here, www.blogger.com
I decided to do all my reflective stuff on blogger and put a hyperlink on my e-portfolio site because of some of the problems I had encountered by using Mahara and I also have worked with blogger.com a lot before and I find it so easy to use...
I also added a hyperlink to some of the other work I have done in other classes for uni, so you can have a better understanding of me as a person. There is also the Fan-Fiction through that hyperlink that shows where my Home and Away Fan-Fiction all started. URL to my other work: http://ashleigh042.110mb.com/
One of the interesting things that happened to me when I wrote my fan-fiction for Outrageous Fortunes last year for one of my uni papers was that after I had handed the Fan-Fiction assingment in, what I had written for one of the characters actually happened on the show the next episode. I made on of the daughter's pregnant and the next episode of the show I watched they had made her pregnant on the real show, although how she found out she was pregnant was different to how I had written it, it was still a huge coincidence!!
So mabye, I could be good enough to write for a show like Outrageous Fortunes as I have the same ideas as them!!!
I-Reflect was very different for me, I had never done an online paper before so it many challanges for me but I feel that I have acheived these and come out with a good e-portfolio that I can be proud of and use later in life for job opportunities. In this paper it was very cruizy there were no real time frames that certain thing had to be done by then, we had our three briefs that we had to do but if somethings was a bit late it wasn't like we would lose marks for it, it is a paper that is very independent and I think I enjoyed being able to pick my own topic and develop it the way I wanted to instead of having set rules on paper that I had to obey by.
I think that my e-portfolio is a good asset for me to keep and I hope my readers enjoyed reaidng my Fan-Fictions, I also hope it encourages others to become interested in something like this because it is a very interesting topic and you can have a lot of fun with it, being imaginative and creative...
I will definietly keep adding things to my e-portfolio even though the paper has now finished because I can use it to showcase my writing off and use it as sort of a hub to store all my documents I have written etc.
It has definietly been a good paper and I have enjoyed it thoroughly, the best thing is I get to have this e-portfolio of me work with me forever...

Fan-Fiction
Fan-Fiction is very commonly used througout the world. There is a fanfiction net on the internet URL: http://www.fanfiction.net/
This website hs all the differnt types of Fan-Fiction you can write and it has many examples of peoples work they have created.
Fan-Fiction is also used at AUT. Since I have been at university I have sat 2 papers where creating a Fan-Fiction was one of the assignments and I thorughly enjoyed doing it, hence why I chose to carry my Fan-Fictions further through the I-Reflect paper.
There is also a Harry Potter website all about the Fan-Fictions that have been created from the books on Harry Potter. URL: http://www.harrypotterfanfiction.com/
Many people are interested in writing their own Fan-Fiction because they can decide what happens and they have the control and power.
This was one another reason why I like doing Fan-Fiction was because I was in control and had the power to decide what plots I would made, if any characters would die etc...

My Fan-Fiction Choices
I decided to do my Fan-Fictions on the drama's Outrageous Fortunes (NZ tv series) and Home and Away (Australian tv series) mainly because I am a huge fan of both the shows. I have watched Home and Away since I was little and I have also watched Outrageous Fortunes since it started 4 seasons ago. Both of these tv shows I feel relate to me in some way, many of the issues that they deal with in the shows are things I have experienced or being around.
For example. In Home and Away I have dealth with a teenage pregnancy in my family and had loss of many family members which have both being major themes in the show.
In Outragous Fortunes I feel I can relate to the show a lot also. Because it is a New Zealand made show there are many aspects of it like the culture etc that I know about or have values kind of the same with my family. Although the West Family (main characters in the show) are a bit different to my family, the way they do things are similar in ways. The family are a very "kiwi" family and which relates to me as I am a kiwi. The show is also very homorous which is why I also watch it, some of the crazy things they do are very entertaining to watch!!!
It was very fun to be able to make the characters do things that I had always wanted, I was able to let my imagination run wild with my Fan-Fictions are I loved every moment of writing the scripts based around the characters. But I made sure I didn't take the characters qaulities away from them. For example in Home and Away Sally is a very caring person and would do anything she needed to help others out. Also in Outrageous Fortunes the characters swear a lot so I made sure I didn't take the swearing out of my scripts otherwise I wouldn't really be writing the right thing would I??

About Fan-Fiction
This information is about Fan-Fiction. It has the meaning and definition of Fan-Fiction, the different styles of Fan-Fictions and the subgenres of Fan-Fiction.
I thought this information would be useful to give poeple who are unsure of what Fan-Fiction is. I thought it would also be helpful to people reading my Fa-Fiction's on my e-portfolio so they could understand my Fan-Fictions a bit better..
Meaning and Definition of Fan-Fiction:
Fan fiction (alternately referred to as fanfiction, fanfic, FF or fic) is a broadly defined term for fiction about characters or settings written by admirers of the original work, rather than by the original creators. The term usually applies to works that are not commissioned and unauthorized by the owner/creators and publishers of the original and usually (but not always) works which are not professionally published. Fan fiction is defined outside of original fiction, which exists within its own discrete, professionally published universe, and therefore outside of canon works within that universe. Most fan fiction writers assume that their readers have knowledge of the canon universe (created by a professional writer) in which their works are based.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fan_fiction
Styles of Fan-Fiction:
Fanfiction is easily distinguishable within 5 different types. A "chaptered fic" is written in a similar manner to traditional serial stories, with each chapter released separately as it is finished. Chapters may take anything from a day to several months to be updated and often remind readers of their place in the story with each new installment. Most archives allow authors to upload individual chapters sequentially under a single title with a main link to the first chapter, and each chapter easily linked to via a drop down menu.
A drabble is traditionally a vignette exactly 100 words in length. However, when a story is referred to as a drabble, it often is a short scene or idea that does not tell an entire story, or a story at all. It is simply a reflections of a moment in time, somewhat similar to a character sketch. Other short forms of fanfiction include oneshot or twoshot, in which the story is only one or two chapters long, respectively. Oneshots can also be expanded into longshots, which are one-chaptered stories that are considerably longer than most chaptered stories.
The fourth style of fanfic writing is known as a songfic, where authors take the lyrics of a song and, with the song as inspiration, construct a piece of writing around the lyrics. Usually this is done by quoting lines of the lyrics, while writing original pieces relating to the nearby lyrics.
The last, and final major form of writing is known as alternative universe (often abbreviated as AU), in which the author deliberately alters the original setting of the story, thereby creating an entirely new world. This happens when a story transplants familiar characters into situations totally different from canon. The purpose of creating alternate universes are to answer potential "what-if" questions. These can be created by fabricating a crossover, an alternate timeline, or altering the nature of the setting or characters, among other methods.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fan_fiction
Subgenres of Fan-Fiction:
Fan fiction is now found in a variety of genres with sites specializing in each. Sites can be found by star, by TV show, by books (such as the Harry Potter Fanfiction forums), and by style of story such as mystery, crime shows, crossover, or romance (for the "shippers"). A growth in part due to the Internet, it is expected that these specialized sites will only continue to grow in popularity.
For common terminology relating to fan fiction, including some specialized subgenre terms, see the sub-article Fan fiction terminology.

About Me!
My name is Ashleigh Maree Lack.
I am currently 19 years old.
DOB: 04/03/1989
Contact details: email: tqq6334@aut.ac.nz
Occupation: Student at AUT (Auckland University of Technology).
I am currently Studying a Bachelor of English, including doing a few Communication papers.
My dream job is to write for a magazine company.
I am from a very small town where there was not a lot of things to do so I had many hobbies. They included writing, photography, sport (mainly soccer) and a few other things..
A main passion of mine has always been to write, I like to be able to tell my readers a story and keep them informed...
When I started doing the I-Reflect class, I straight away thought of doing something with writing, to show my readers how passionate I was about it.
Last year in year 1 at uni we did an assingment of "Fan-Fiction" and I really enjoyed it so I decided to carry that fa-fiction on and further it through my e-portfolio..
I thought writing my own "Fan-Fiction's" would help benefit me in later life, for carrer opportunities. Because I want to work in the magazine field, of course you need to know how to write well so I thought by showcasing my "Fan-Fictions" through my e-portfolio I could show future employers the work I have done so far.
I also did my e-portfolio on "Fan-Fiction" because like I said before it a passion of mine. Since I was little I have always enjoyed writing stories. To me it is extremely important for stories to be truthful, when I read some magazines I don't know whether they story is true or its completely made up. I have also always had a fasinaction with real life drama stories like tragedies. They have always inticed me and I feel that if I got my dream job of writing for a magazine company that is the sort of stories I would want to write for the readers, I feel those are the stories that are important not things like "the new puppy Paris Hilton has brought for her collection".
I thoroughly enjoyed writing my "Fan-Fiction's" throughout the semester, even though I believe in writing truthful stories it was fun to be creative and write things that might never happen but in my head they came to life and it was like I was the script-writer for the shows.
I could also see myself doing work along those lines as well, I have always wanted to be able to help others and if writing for a television programme could be ok because my messages would get out to the country through watching the programme.
Like in Home and Away, they deal with many dramas like AIDS, teen pregnancies and deaths. They are all common things that occur in everyones lives around the world and I believe by showing them on the television programmes it does help some people understand more about it.
